Guitars and Weddings...

This was a life size guitar made for a graduation. This family is very musical and quite eclectic, so it was fun to do this for them! I made the Whimsical Wedding Cake at the bottom of the blog for his brother's wedding last year, so now it was his turn for a great cake! I used gumpaste for the details, covered the chocolate cake in marshmallow fondant and brushed all over with luster dust. I now want to do another one!

This was a last minute cake that was done for a small wedding. I didn't have any idea of color or style, just that the bride wanted a white cake with spring flowers. I had seen a cake similar to this with a tiffany blue base and white pointed flowers. I wanted to do that style, so I just switched up the colors! When the bride's sister came to pick it up, I was told the colors matched perfectly to her bouquet, so I guess it was meant to be!

Busy Weekend

What does a teapot, dog, 50th birthday and graduation have in common? The Flour Shop!

It was my first time doing a teapot and I can't wait to do another. I actually used the same ball pan that I did with the ball of yarn so it came out to be a nice size. When it was put in the room where the tea party/bridal party was to be held, the colors went beautifully together!

The cupcakes were chocolate, half with peppermint frosting topped with white chocolate, and the other half with peanut butter frosting topped with dark chocolate. The chocolates were painted with luster dust for the silver and blue effects. The same client who had the graduating senior also had a baby shower the next day for her sister, hence the pink and purple flowery cake. That I never got to try that cake is depressing! It was a white cake with raspberry filling and cream cheese buttercream. I was told it was amazing!

The 50th cookies and the doggies were for a client's mom who was turning 50 this weekend. She loves purple and has little dogs, so that worked well.

Apple Cookies were for fun!

Kitty Cats and Yarn Cake

This cake was fun to do. I had seen a version of it on http://www.cakecentral.com and had always wanted to do it. I added another cat and changed the color of the yarn. It was a huge hit! If I were to do it again, I would get the pasta attachment for my mixer and use that to create the yarn. As it was, I rolled each piece of fondant by hand.

Bridal Shower

My girlfriend asked for a light cake for a bridal shower. Angel food is the best for that kind of request because it is so fabulous with fruit!

Jay's Birthday Fish

My son turned 14 yesterday. After discussing several different designs for a cake, this is what was decided on. He wanted alot of blood! It is a red velvet cake with red vanilla icing, raspberry jam and covered in marshmallow fondant. The fondant was gray, then painted with silver luster dust. Found out after the fact that all the scales were backwards!! Oh well, it turned out fun!

Teapot and Teacup Cookies

I made a number of different teapots and teacups for the Diva's Fashion Xchange this past Wednesday. They were a hit! They are sugar cookies with poured icing over them. I did several different designs to play around with. It was a great night and I met alot of great women in business!
