Rah Rah, Siss Boom Bah! Here's to the Cheerleaders!

These cakes were for two girls and their combined birthday parties. One was a cheerleader for West Orange High School and the other is a ballet dancer.

This was my first time using pre-made fondant, the Fondarrific brand. The different colors were different flavors. After getting use to the texture and consistency, which took me some time, it was great to work with. It tasted like candy, the blue was berry, orange was orange, white was buttercream, red(ish) was cherry and the pink was tutti-frutti! YUM!

Hhhmmm, haven't posted lately!

So I've been doing a lot of work and have not posted pics except on FB. So here are a few to wet your appetite! Literally!

Batman had rice crispy treat arms! Never used them before, but thought I would try it for the first time. He ended up being a cutie! He had a cape on the back. I realized after the fact that I didn't get any shots of it. :(

Another first for me, making a baby! Not literally, because I have two teenagers, but out of fondant. Thanks to all the artists on Cakecentral.com that helped get me through that one!

I loved that the time, but now realize I could have gotten a little more detailed with the facade of the church. It was a hit anyway!

This is approximately one out of a gazillion pumpkins that I did. I totally loved each one, they all had their own look and identity!

Cool, fun little feather cake- what more can I say? Thanks for looking!

After looking thorough some past pictures, I found that I had not posted these. The credit card was a fun one to do. The numbers all represented a member of the family's birthday. The expiration date was the anniversary date and the name was the birthday girls, who happened to work at Chase in the credit card division! Pretty fun!

These were done at the same time I did the ivory and green wedding dummy cake. These were real, however, and were just for show. The mini cakes were vanilla with vanilla bc. The cookies were sugar and were made to match the mini cakes. It ended up being a lovely display, and a few visitors to this show actually took them and ate them!

I was really surprised to see that I had not posted these. They were fantastic and fun to make! The cosmetic purse was carrot cake with cream cheese frosting. The MAC tote was chocolate cake with chocolate filling. The lipstick was fondant. The shoes were all gumpaste, my first attempt at shoes!

WWE, Black Forest and a Tool Belt

This is one of my dessert cakes, the Black Forest. It is yummy! The filling is dark cherries with Kirshwasser. The frosting is a Golden Butter frosting. The cake is my moist, chocolate cake.

This cake was for a general contractor. It needed to be small. I molded dark chocolate in the shapes of the tools, then painted them with luster dust and vanilla. The 'belt' was made out of marshmallow fondant with little gold dragees. It is hard to see, but on the side of the cake were little 'wood' boards. The cake was a chocolate Kahlua cake with mocha frosting. YUM!

This was a fun one to do! Edgewater High Schools band director and his kids love the WWE. With two birthdays in one week, they had thier friend throw a fantastic birthday event at Chuck E. Cheese. Their were cloth party bags with the WWE logo filled with goodies. They had the black and red WWE balloons on every chair. With 30-40 kids, it was a party!

When I delivered the cake, the event planner, Tara, placed the referee in the ring and had several figures of the different wrestlers all around the cake. It all came together so well! The cake was again the amazing and moist chocolate cake with a very simple butter and chocolate filling. They loved it!

Black and White Wedding

Black and White Wedding Cake. It fed 75 people. Carrot cake on 1st and 3rd tiers and vanilla cake with vanilla bc on 2nd tier. Found out when delivering the cake that the numbers for the reception had gone up to 120. Quite frustrated, because I knew that this would not feed all of them!

Lots of Cookies!

These cookies were for Lake Highland Prep. You can see on the logo the L,H and P. I was so happy to have the printer and proper ink this time.

The next cookies were for a Christening for my dear friends niece. It's hard to tell, but the base icing color was ivory, the dash was white and the pearls were pearly/ivory. They are 3 1/2" cookies, so they are quite large. They turned out very nice!

The breast cancer awareness ribbons were done for a private event for the Brighton store in the Altamonte Mall. They were showing their new pieces for breast cancer awareness, which were absolutely lovely, and raising $$ for Florida Hospital's Eden Spa. Eden Spa helps women going through breast cancer, by providing an understanding area where you can go and get fitted for wigs. They provide so many services and I am honored to work with them in raising monies!

Southern Living at Home Show

Two separate tables that were both for a wedding and for a bridal shower. We were amazed that the pink and green mini cakes and cookies matched so perfectly! The wedding cake had little purple flowers and yellow stamens, it's hard to see it in the picture. I thought it all turned out very pretty.

Sports Ball Cakes

This was for a friend's little boy. He turned one year old and has a love for all sizes of sports balls. I decided to put together tennis, basketball, soccer and baseballs. When we walked in with the board full of the cakes, the birthday boys' big brother tried grabbing one of the baseballs and myself and my husband both freaked! He didn't get to it!

Logo Cookies

I was asked to make cookies for a school fundraiser. I was excited for the opportunity, because I've been wanting to get a printer for logo work. I ordered the printer, the edible ink and was ready to go.

When I went to put in the cartridges, I noticed it was not the printer I ordered, it was an updated model. Hhhmmm, it was late and I had to figure out what to do now that I couldn't print the logos.

I came up with the idea for plaid cookies, because the name is Lake Highland, and they are known as highlanders. They did not turn out the way I wanted, but I will have an opportunity do some more for the school. And yes, I had to order new ink to fit the new printer, but all is well!

After getting the new ink, I had several more opportunities to use it. A friend of mine is in a BNI leads group, and it was National Nannie Recognition Week. I was asked to do cookies for both of these.

100 year old birthday party!

These were amazing! The yellow ones were white cake with lemon curd filling. The pink ones were italian cream cake with raspberry filling. Delicious! Everyone loved these!

My daughter decorated this carrot cake. It was for the man of the house, and he barely had any left to enjoy after the party! Everyone loved it.

These were a repeat of a design that we have done before. The design is from a little notepad. I think my daughter did a better job of re-creating it the first time!

More adorable little dresses with matching handbags!

Henna Scrollwork

This is another dummy cake that I totally loved doing! It was alot of little, detailed, time-consuming work. I like the way it turned out, but of course I learned a few things that I would do differently the next time.

Henna has such neat designs and I think black and white are perfect for it! I would like to add some white flowers on the top with black centers to set it off.

We're Moving!

After re-focusing on our original business plan to offer handmade cakes with the highest quality fillings, frosting and coverings, we have to decided to find another kitchen to work out of. We are looking at several potential locations, one in Lake Mary and another in downtown Orlando.

We are still able to offer amazing cakes and would love to have the opportunity to sit down and discuss your needs. Let us know how we can help!

Thanks for your support!

25th Birthday and Isabella's 1st Birthday!

This was a rush cake, ordered Friday afternoon and picked up Saturday morning. The only direction was a gray fondant covered, three-tiered with lime green and blue polka dots, but a bit modern with a 25 on the top. I'm really happy about the way it turned out. It didn't look too childish, but not too simple either!

The Elmo cake was for our dear friends that just moved back to Orlando from California. Their daughter turned one, and she is due in November with the second! The smash cake was a hit! They actually wanted to have fondant covering the cake, and I was running way behind schedule, so I did just the buttercream. I was actually very happy about how smooth it was, because I've not done a b/c only cake in a loooong time!

Don't Cry Over Spilled Nail Polish!!

This was for a 6 year old's birthday. It was so much fun to make! She had chocolate masks, pedicures and a fun pink frame craft also. Too cute!

As I was making this cake, it came out a lot bigger than I expected! I hope to be able to do another one soon!

GRAND OPENING!!!

So, it was a huge hit! Over 200 people came through the doors of our new retail store! Thanks to everyone who came out, sampled, chatted and bought some goodies! There are alot more pics, which I will slowly intersperse throughout future blogs.

Grand Opening Day!

Today is the day we've been waiting and working for! The grand opening of our retail store! After being in Wisconsin for a week, then having literally two days to bake everything from a giant strawberry cake to adorable, intricate cookies, the day is here. A special kudos go out to my 15-year old daughter for staying up til 1am and 2am on consecutive days, helping to do a little of everything!

Once again, if you are in the Orlando area, come out and see us! There is face painting for the kids, sno cones, and hot dogs. For the adults, there is food, food and more food. Sweets are aplenty! We'll have drawings for some giveaways also.

We will post pics of all!

Xbox with Frag Grenades

This was for my girlfriends' son. He turned 16 and wanted an Xbox. Last year he got the laptop cake below. The Frag Grenades are an homage to Halo, since that is all he, his brother, and my son and daughter do when they are together!

Fashion Diva XChange

The Ladies' Diva Fashion XChange is a monthly networking event for women. The Flour Shop offered samples this past week. We offered cookies with edible glitter and mini pina colada cupcakes. It was a great opportunity to see friends and other professional women!
